25th anniversary of Inistioge vintage rally to be best yet
THIS YEAR the 25th anniversary of the Inistioge vintage rally takes place on August 6 and it promises to be the best year yet.
On the day there will be a large display of working vintage machinery, including steam engines, vintage tractors and steam threshing. There will also be a display of vintage farm engines, all kinds of vintage tractors, cars and engines.
The Inistioge vintage rally is always a fun day out for all the family in an idyllic setting.
The Ford Motor Company’s 100 year anniversary will be celebrated by special awards for the Best Vintage Ford Automobile and Best Vintage Ford Tractor along with the annual presentation of the Leslie Rothwell Trophy for the Best Vintage Exhibit.
The festivities start on Saturday, August 5, with the Slievenamon Vintage Club Road Run from Mullinahone to Inistioge which will arrive into Inistioge at 6 p.m. John Madden President of the Irish Vintage Society, will escort the driver through the village with his bagpipes and into the field around 6.30 p.m.
On Sunday, August 6, the gates of the field will open at 10 a.m. with the official opening at 2 p.m. by John Madden, John Paul Phelan, Minister of State, Deputy Bobby Aylward and Sean Treacy, Chairman of the Inistioge Vintage Rally.
On the day there will be over 300 vintage displays as well as live music and dancing. Other attractions include a massive selection of stalls.
Entry for children is free while adults are €6.
