THE opening of the Phil Murphy weekend will take place Wednesday, July 26, at 8 p.m., in the Carrig-on-Bannow community centre where there will be an art exhibition and some refreshmen­ts.

To kick start the festival, The Raw Bar Affair will perform in the church Thursday, July 27, at 8 p.m.

New Road, Donal Clancy and John and Pips Murphy will be in the Festival Marquee, at 8 p.m., Friday, July 28 to perform a concert.

Saturday, July 29 will be full of events starting with a workshop with music from the Cork/Kerry border at 11 a.m., followed by a singing gathering at 2 p.m. in the school.

Musicians Jackie Daly, Matt Cranitch and Paul de Grace, Daoire Farrell, Johnny Dugan and Amala will be in the Festival Marquee, at 8 p.m.

Sunday, July 30 there will be workshops in harp, guitar and harmonica at 12 noon in the school, followed by some children’s entertainm­ent and an art workshop at 1.30 p.m.

Over in the Festival Marquee, there will be an afternoon of folk, trad, bluegrass, ballads, Cajun, zydeco and much more from 1 p.m., or join the ceílí in the community centre with Ger Murphy and Ken Cotter at 3 p.m.

Sharon Shannon will close the weekend by performing in the Festival Marquee Sunday, at 8 p.m.
