€5,500worth of cannabis

-

Christopher Sadowski (28) of Taylorstown in Ballycullane had €5,500 worth of cannabis in his possession when gardaí called to search his home in November of 2015.

Officers also found 5.5mm Tytan air rifle with Kandar scope, which Wexford Court learned was being used for target shooting in the back yard.

The accused father of three was assisted in following proceedings by a Polish interpreter.

Solicitor Tim Cummings said his client was unaware of the requirement to have a licence for the rifle.

According to the solicitor, Sadowski had a long standing cannabis habit and did not have the drug with the intention of making financial gain.

Nevertheless, Judge John Cheatle imposed a suspended three month sentence for having an illicit substance for sale or supply to others.

Possession of the rifle was taken into consideration with no extra penalty.
