Carter’s ‘Wagon Wheel’ and lots more at Killag grounds
THE BANNOW-RATHANGAN showgrounds at Killag, Duncormick, will be the place to be this weekend when some of Ireland’s top country musicians entertain the crowds at the second South East Country Music Festival.
The sensational event will include a great line-up and among those on stage will be top-billing Nathan Carter, Mike Denver, Jimmy Buckley, Cliona Hagan, Lee Matthews and The Conquerors.
Nathan Carter’s manager John Farry said last year’s Southeast Country Music Festival was run to the highest professional standard this year will be no different.
‘Nathan and his band are very excited about the trip to Killag once again this year.’
‘We have once again organised an affordable day out for all the family, with tickets priced at just €25 and children under 12 being admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult,’ said Mattie Reville, the festival chairman.
‘We have worked hard to organise an exceptional line-up based on the positive feedback we received last year and trust that the artists will deliver a sensational day out for all who attend.’
Wagon Wheel singer Carter is a sensation in Ireland, where he outsold One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Michael Buble, and became the first country act to reach number one in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks, six years before.
He topped the charts with his fifth album ‘Where I Wanna Be’, which features his unique blend of Celtic, country and pop. Not bad for the cherubic former head choir boy who sang for Pope John Paul II in Rome.
Jimmy Buckley’s career is going from strength to strength and he is destined to be a huge star. He is already one of the top entertainers in Ireland, and his ambition is to conquer the English Country Market, not ruling out Europe. Following numerous visits across the water to England, Jimmy is building up a large fan base and his concerts and dances are always sold out.
Cliona Hagan’s amazing talents has also brought her to the small screen hosting her very own Country Music Show ‘ Keltic Country Ireland’ every Thursday at 9 p.m. on Sky Channel 238.
Lee Matthews has some big hits. He released his new single ‘ The Farmer Wants A Wife’ which has real fun story behind it. The song is a tribute to all the farming and country folks who are loyal supporters of country music.
Mike Denver, known as ‘ The Galway Boy’, is one of Ireland’s top entertainers, having this year celebrated 13 years in the entertainment scene. He is regarded as the best band for dancing with a 2.5 hour high energy show featuring all of his hits, ‘Wasn’t that a Party’, ‘ Tommy K’, ‘Galway Girl’, ‘Paddy ‘, ‘ Hills of Donegal’ his Rockabilly selection and his current Single ‘My Oklahoma Home ‘.
