Wexford Drama Group have announced the cast for their production of the John B Keane classic ‘ The Man From Clare’ which will be performed at Wexford Arts Centre in August, from 16 to 19 and 23 to 26 nightly at 8 pm.

Director Alan Corcoran has assembled a stellar line-up of actors from familiar Drama Group faces such as Louise Dillon, Eugene McLoghlin, Michael Murphy and John Crosbie in the title role to new young talent in the form of Alannah Corcoran, Simon O’Carroll amd Carla Fusciardi Wallace along with Ronan Berry, Kris Doyle, Brian Hynes and Martin Wallace.

One of Keane’s lesser known plays, ‘ The Man From Clare’ is a touching portrait of a Gaelic football star facing life changes in the twilight of his career. A sudden opportunit­y arrives during hix team’s trip to Kerry for his final game, in the character of his host’s painfully shy daughter Nellie Brick. The story will resonate with anyone who has had to let go of dreams as part of growing up.

The Drama Group are also delighted to announce that they have secured the rights for ‘Little Gem’ by Elaine Murphy, about three generation­s of women in one incredible year. The production will be directed by Carol Long and will be the group’s Wexford Festival Opera fringe event this year. Audtions will take place soon. Tickets are now on sale for ‘ The Man From Clare’.
