A wet start to Wednesday with the rain clearing the east coast around midday and then brightenin­g for the afternoon. Much of the east and south of the country will remain dry. Thursday will be a fresh and blustery day with scattered heavy showers mixed in with bright sunny spells. Most places will be dry and bright for the first half of Friday. The afternoon will be cloudier with scattered outbreaks of rain, mainly in the west and south. The weekend is expected to be showery and blustery, sunny spells also. Highs of 15 to 18 degrees.
