SUMMER COLLECTION

The summer collection in aid of our parish priest has been very well supported and many thanks go to all who contribute­d so generously. Part of this collection also goes to support retired priests in the diocese of Ossory, whose income has to be supplement­ed. Any outstandin­g envelopes can be handed in to the Parochial House or brought to the weekend Masses.

MEALS ON WHEELS

The Meals on Wheels, New Ross Branch, are offering a fiveday week service in the New Ross and Rosbercon areas. A piping hot three course meal will be delivered directly to your home. They also have a drop-in service at their facility in Cross St where meals are served Monday to Friday at a cost of a mere €5. For further informatio­n please contact the service at 051 445711.

GREYHOUND RACING

A race night in aid of St Mary’s Restoratio­n Fund Kilkenny will take place at Kilkenny Greyhound Track on Friday, August 11, at 8 p.m. Admission tickets costing €10 will be available on the night. Nomination of dogs at €100 each, are being actively canvassed for. All details of the race night can be had from Fr Pat Dalton, 086 828478, Anne Norris, 086 3634598, or the Diocesan Office. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

With the nights closing in what better place to spend a few hours each Wednesday than at the Rosbercon Parish Bingo?. With over €1.200 of a pay-out each week plus the lotto jackpot now standing at €275 you have a double chance of winning.

PARISH NEWS

Our parish priest, Fr Dan Cavanagh, is progressin­g well after his recent hip operation and hopes to resume duties in September. In the meantime, Fr Tom Coyle and Fr Ray Dempsey have covered for him in Rosbercon with Fr Jim Walsh, Fr Liam Barron and Fr Tom O’Toole on standby in Mullinarri­gle.

GAA RESULTS

In the Aylward Cup Intermedia­te Hurling Young Ireland’s Gowran had a nine point win over Tullogher-Rosbercon on a score line of 0-19 to 0-10. Thomastown had a five point win over our lads in the South Kilkenny Junior A Hurling championsh­ip, here the final tally was 0-20 to 1-12 in favour of the Town.
