TALENT SHOW

St Mary’s Community Hall in Fethard-on-Sea will host the talent show ‘Hooked On Talent’ and Monster Draw on Sunday, August 6. The draw includes a Smart TV as well as twenty six other prizes. The talent show finalists are from all age groups and there is aa great variety of acts. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and the show commences at 8 p.m.

Tickets for show may be purchased in Fethard-on-Sea and St Mary’s Hall on Saturday mornings or alternativ­ely please phone 087 9968607. Admission is by ticket only.

SILVER CIRCLE

Gusserane GAA Club will hold their annual Silver Circle draw over the coming weeks. Entry in the draw is only two euro each week and there are 10 weekly draws. Lines are available from club members throughout the parish. The four weekly prizes are €100, €50, €25 and €25. Please support.

LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner in the Tintern lotto last week when the numbers drawn were 9, 14, 15 and 28. The jackpot this week rises to €3,650. The match-three winner was Noel and Fiona from the Belfry.

CARDS

Winners in Gusserane Hall last week were Johnny Flynn, Mick Hanlon and Peter Stafford. Second went to Karl Hall, Johnny Cogley and James Larkin. Third were Pat Ryan, Tom Corcoran and Watty Byrne while the last game draw went to Nick Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. Raffle winners were Willie Kehoe, Tom Corcoran, Watty Byrne and Kathleen Cadogan.

PADRE PIO

Miss in honour of Padre Pio takes place in Clongeen church this Friday, August 4, at 7.30 p.m. It will be preceded at 7.05 p.m. by the Rosary.

TEA DANCE

Gusserane parish council will hold a Tea Dance on Sunday, October 1, in Gusserane Hall where the music will be provided by the popular T Bone Country. Admission is only five euro and tickets will be on sale shortly. All proceeds will go towards parish funds. Your support would be most welcome. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. to midnight.

TINTERN TRAILS RUN

Gusserane Coiste na nÓg will hold their next Tintern Trails Run in the grounds of Tintern Abbey on Sunday, September 3. This event continues to grow in popularity. You can enter online by finding the Tintern Run on Facebook.

GAA ACTION

Well done to Gusserane’s junior hurlers on a two point win over neighbours, Clongeen in the championsh­ip last Saturday. They are out again tonight, Tuesday, while the football teams are out in the championsh­ip this weekend. SANDSCULPT­ING FESTIVAL

The Duncannon Sand-sculpting festival will take place this year on August 11, 12 and 13. All the usual attraction­s. Further details to follow.

DOUBLE BINGO

There will be a Special Double Bingo Game in Campile Hall, on Bank Holiday Monday night, 7th August, starting at 8.30. The prize money for nine of the eleven games will be doubled on the night, which will be over €2,100 in total, for the normal admission price of: double book €10, single book €7, and a small book €3. All support would be very much appreciate­d.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Next monthly meeting is on Monday, September 4, in St Louis Day Care Centre starting at 2.15 p.m. Come along for a chat with new and old friends over a cup of tea and a bun. New members welcome.

Social Evenings are held in the St Louis Day Care at 7.30 every second Tuesday.

Co. Wexford Age Equality Network would like to invite you to join them on Tuesday, August 22 in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y, Co. Wexford from 10am to 1pm–Seated Lunch Follows at 1pm. ST JAMES GAA

Lotto – There was no winner of the St James GAA Club lotto draw on Tuesday night last with the winning numbers 14, 20, 25 and 30. There was three match three winning numbers and these were Oisin Stafford, Portmarnoc­k, Shane Nolan, Myshall and George Hillis, Wexford Golf Club. The jackpot is now huge €11,600 the next draw takes place in Mersheen on August 8 at 8.30 p.m. Tickets are on sale around the club from senior team players, club committee members and in local shops. Barn dance 2017 – St James GAA Club would like to thank everyone involved in our third annual barndance. Another very successful, entertaini­ng night was had by all and we would like to thank everyone for supporting our biggest fundraiser again in 2017. Plans are already in place for a fourth barndance in 2018.

Golf classic – St James GAA Club held a very successful golf classic in Wexford Golf Club on Friday, July 14, Close on 30 teams took part in a very successful day. Well done to the winning teams and all those who took part. Big thank you to all our adult players for working so hard to make this event a great success and thank you to all our sponsors and those who helped out in anyway. Plans are in place for the 2018 renewal already.

Intercount­y Action – Hard luck to Matthew O’Hanlon and the Wexford hurling team whose season came to an end last Sunday in Cork. We would like to compliment Matthew and his team on a great season of action, thrills and spills.

County Championsh­ips – County championsh­ips are now back in full swing and this weekend will see the intermedia­te hurling team back in action on Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m. in O’Kennedy Park New Ross v HWH Bunclody. On Saturday evening next August 5 it’s the turn of the St James senior footballer­s as they meet neighbours Horeswood at 7.30 p.m. in O’Kennedy Park New Ross. Following that on Friday, August 11, St James intermedia­te hurlers will face Craanford at 7 p.m. in Bree in round three of the hurling championsh­ip. We encourage everyone to come out and support the teams over the coming weeks as these are all huge games on how the championsh­ips will pan out.

Ladies’ Football – Our senior ladies’ football team will be in action again on Monday night next July 31 at 7.30 p.m. v Crossabeg-Ballymurn in the quarter final of the senior football championsh­ip. We wish the girls the best of luck as they aim to reach their first ever senior football semi-final.
