GAA CLUB NOTES

The junior hurlers lost by five points up in Bree against a lively Ferns in their third round of the championship. Their next opponents are Monageer on Sunday, August 13.
This Saturday the Intermediate Football squad will face St Mary’s Maulditown in Kilurin at 7.30. They also have St Joseph’s and Ballyhogue to play in the championship group.
Super performance from the Wexford Hurlers down in Cork unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day against Waterford. Now it will be fixture after fixture to be played every weekend so keep an eye on the Facebook page and Twitter account.

Following Corach Ramblers AGM the following committee has been elected for the upcoming year: chairman – Billy O’Brien; secretary – Clodagh Barry; Joint treasurer – Toddy Barry and Breda Walsh; Committee members – Mick Walsh, Mark Ralph and David Moran.
We would now like to welcome any expressions of interest for managers at all levels. Please if you can give up a couple of hours per week, contact any committee member. Without managers we cannot field teams so please get involved.
Corach Ramblers would like to thank outgoing committee member Adam Diskin for all his help during the last 12 months.
Special thanks goes to Willie Wallace who, after 42 years of service to the club has decided to take a step back. Since the clubs inception Willie has been involved at all levels, from his playing days to management and on the club committee, he has been an invaluable member of our club. He won’t be far away though and will still be available to the club when needed.
Thx a million Willie for everything you’ve done, the club would not be where it is today without your years of service and commitment.
A word of thanks must also go to Willie’s wife Mary, who, anyone who has been on the committee knows, hosted the vast majority of committee meetings and spoiled us all with tea, coffee, scones and the finest banana bread of all time ?. Thanks Mary, we appreciate all you’ve done, and I for one will be looking for a certain recipe.
The preceding game to the Cup semi-final pitched the All Blacks against Corach Ramblers. All Blacks were quickest out of the traps and a great run up the left hand side by James Delaney followed by an equally impressive cut-back gave Thady Redmond the easiest tap in to give the Blacks the lead. Corach didn’t panic and began to pass the ball around, always looking and probing but keeping possession well.
After 15 minutes the equaliser came, and what a well worked goal it was. A great run down the left flank from John Gleeson, who cut back in and played the ball to Marty Keane, who spotted the run of Alan Diskin coming from midfield, and the pass was perfection as Diskin never broke stride and hit the ball first time on the run which flew low into the corner.And just three minutes later it was 2-1 to Corach as a perfectly floated free kick was met by the head of the in rushing Alan Diskin to give him and Corach their second. Soon after it was 3-1 when a long clearance by Toddy Barry in the Corach goal somehow eluded the All Blacks defence and Wayne Whitty rushed in to head over the on rushing Niall O’Callaghan in the All Blacks goal. Corach continued to dominate and more chances fell the way of Paul French and Wayne Whitty as they went in at half time leading by 3-1.
The second half was barely a minute old when Paul French got on the end of a long ball and finished low to the net to make it 4-1 to Corach and one could almost sense the fight leaving the Blacks. Wayne Whitty soon added the fifth following a great through ball from Alan Diskin when he rounded the keeper superbly. The Blacks to their credit tried hard and on the night had to concede second best to a rampant Corach team. Pat Sinnott, Michael Sinnott, James Delaney and Thady Redmond tried hard but its Corach, who will advance to the Shield Final where they await the winners of Fastnet and Kilmore. #COYR

There was no jackpot winner in the Tintern lotto draw last week. Noel and Fiona, The Belfry, matched three numbers and received €200. The numbers drawn were 9, 14, 15 and 28.
