PTAA DAY
Next Sunday, August 27, is PTAA day in Our Lady’s Island when many pioneer total abstinence association members from branches throughout the country will converge for their annual pilgrimage.
Newbawn branch secretary Tessie Dunphy is optimistic that a good number will travel from around the area. There will also be a celebration of life, remembering the little one’s, and Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. and a special ceremony for all who have suffered through miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or early death. ‘ A time to heal’ will take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, August 30. Daily Mass during the pilgrimage season will be at three and at 8 p.m.
RECENT DEATHS
The death occurred on Sunday last in Millhouse Nursing Home New Ross, of Richard (Dick) Rochford, Little Cullenstown, Foulkesmills, and formerly from Camross. He had reached an advanced age and had been unwell for some time. He will be interred today (Tuesday) in Kilgarvan cemetery following requiem mass in Little Cillenstown church. Sympathy is extended to his wife Angelina, sons Denis and John, daughter Angelia, grandchildren, in-laws, and many other relatives and friends.
MUCH regret was caused by the sad passing on Wednesday of last week of Martin Furlong, Templershelin, who was in his 94th year. He was very well known in farming, and in GAA circles having won many honours on the field of play with both Adamstown and Cloughbawn, and he also manned the goal for the county team for a period.
