GAA ACTION

The junior footballer­s, thanks to a goal from Dylan Whitty in the dying seconds gave the juniors a 1-11 to 2-7 win over Cushinstow­n in Horeswood last Friday to maintain their 100% record and will meet Bannow-Ballymitty in the semi-final, Unfortunat­ely after a good first half performanc­e when they led Taghmon by five points, they conceeded 2-2 within five minutes of the restart and lost 3-10 to 2-11. They still have a chance of avoiding the relegation final but must beat Fethard in their final game on weekend September 3.

The junior hurlers play Monageer in their final group game in Taghmon on Friday at 7 p.m. and need a win to be sure of qualifying for the quarter final.

COISTE NA NÓG

The under-16 hurlers, despite shooting many wides, had an 0-13 to 1-9 win over Gusserane last Thursday and will now meet Rathnure away in the quarter final on Monday, August 28, The under-14 hurlers travelled to play Askamore in their quarter final and like in the football the previous Friday gave a very committed display and won 2-15 to 5-4 after a late comeback from the home side.

The under-10 hurlers played two games in Wexford Park last Saturday beating Buffers Alley and Shelmalier­s.

The Dunbrody Gaels minor hurlers were beaten 4-12 to 4-15 by Cloughbawn. The Minor Footballer­s play their final group game away to Bunclody on Tuesday at 7 p.m. while the under-12 hurlers play Askamore away in the quarter final on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

CAMOGIE

Thank you to Neil Barrett for suppllying the bottles of water during the recent under-14 County Final. Good Luck to Róisín Parker, Elena Kenny, Leanne Rowe and Kate Foley, who are all on the under-16 County panel for the all-Ireland ‘A’ final on Sunday, August 27, against Galway.

LADIES’ FOOTBALL

The juniors play Clonee at home in the league on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. The Horeswood under-16 girls’ football team play away to Bunclody on Tuesday, August 29, at 7.30 p.m.
