-

RENTS in County Wexford have risen by around 11 per cent over the past 12 months.

According to the latest quarterly survey by Daft.ie, the average rent in the county is now €718 a month, 32 per cent higher than at the height of the crash.

The Wexford figure closely mirrors national trends, with average rents rising by 11.8 per cent in the year to June, 2017.

However, rents in County Wexford are way off the average for the country of €1,159, the fifth quarter in a row a new alltime high has been set.

There were just 2,930 properties available to rent nationwide on August 1.

This is the lowest number ever recorded, in a series that starts in January 2006, and the first time ever that fewer than 3,000 homes were available to rent.
