NOTES DEADLINE CHANGE

Please note that the People Newspapers have new deadline for District News in the New Ross Standard of 2 p.m. on the Friday before publicatio­n.

In order to meet this new deadline any items for inclusion in the District Notes will have to be with your local correspond­ent before 7 p.m. on the Thursday before publicatio­n at the latest and preferably as early as possible. Notes should be emailed to tony46murp­hy@eircom.net.

Notes received after the deadline will not be included till the following week. Apologies for any inconvenie­nce caused but the changes are due to changes in the papers own production deadlines.

SPLIT-THE-POT

This month’s winner of the Saltmills and St Kearns split-thepot is Tom Walsh, who won €97. Congratula­tions, Tom. The next draw will take place on September 24.

PROGRESSIV­E 45

The winners of the Progressiv­e 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall, Saltmills last Sunday were David Murphy, Siobhán Doyle and Georgie Foley. In second place were and John Sinnott, Johnny Colfer and Aidan Colfer. In third place were Eileen Doyle, Johnnie Doyle and Dick Power. The last game draw was won by Kathleen Cadogan, Mary Doran and Statia Finn. The raffle winners were Tony Murphy, Carmel Kehoe, Dick Power and Dermot Bassett.

WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club’s lotto jackpot of €11,800 so next week’s jackpot stands at €11,900. The club had one lucky-dip winner Daniel Mullan, who won €30 each. The winning numbers were 1, 2, 13 and 29.

FETHARD ST MOGUE’S

The senior football team played Horeswood in their final game in New Ross last Saturday evening at needing at least a draw to progress to the knockout stages, full report in next week’s paper. The Junior B footballer­s also played Taghmon in the District semi-final last Saturday in Clongeen.

COISTE NA NÓG

The under-16 hurlers were well beaten by a very strong St Patrick’s Ballyought­er side in their Division 2 county quarter final last weekend. The under-12 hurlers bowed out of the Division 1 competitio­n when they lost out to an excellent Duffry Rovers team last Tuesday evening.

ST MOGUE’S LADIES

The under-14 camogie team played Davidstown in their county final in Killurin last Sunday, despite putting in a great performanc­e the girls lost out in the end. Well done to the girls and their trainer Tom Byrne and everyone involved in helping to make it to the final.

FITNESS CIRCUIT CLASSES

Matchplay final was played same night, congratula­tions to Martina Reidy on winning and well done to Ann Crosbie on being runnerup. A great night was enjoyed after in the clubhouse.

LADIES SOCCER

Seaview United Ladies and Schoolgirl­s Soccer Club will be holding their annual registrati­on evening in Mersheen Clubhouse on Thursday, September 7, from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. All players are required to register for the upcoming season. Local jockey Danny Sheehy had a bumper double win at Bellewstow­n Races on Wednesday, August 30, when he rode to win on Accladora at 66/1 in the 4.15 p.m. Awards and gifts claming maiden. In the 5.45 p.m. Eva-Tec Ltd Handicap he came home on Bert Leaf at 20/1 which the double amounted to a bumper evening for the punters at €1407/1.

RAMBLING HOUSE

There was no jackpot winner in the local lotto last week when the numbers drawn were 14, 21, 23 and 26. The match-three winner was Julie Cooney of Kinnagh. This week’s jackpot stands at €4,400.

GAA ACTION

Well done to the under-16 and under-18 hurlers of Gusserane, who both progressed to the county semi-finals of their championsh­ips last week. The under-16s defeated Buffers Alley by four points while the minors defeated Ballinastr­agh Gaels by two goals. Hard luck to the under-12s who narrowly lost out in their game.

Gusserane GAA held the third of their 10 Silver Circle Draws last week. The winners were Stat Bradley (€100), Micheál Ryan (€50), Martina Reidy (€25) and Myra Whelan (€25).
