Race night an odds-on favourite

-

A GREAT evening of family fun was the order of the day at Enniscorthy Greyhound track as Pettitt’s hosted their annual Gala Race Night recently. The event saw a great attendance with plenty of entertainment for young and old.

The annual night has become a real favourite on the social calendar in recent years and families use the occasion for one last night of family fun before the dreaded return to school. Pettitt’s have a long association with the dog track and have hosted the event for years as a way of giving something back to their loyal customers with a fun night out.

As if the pounding paws and the ontrack excitement was not enough, there was plenty more to see and do with live music, a magician, face painting and a delicious array of finger food which went down a real treat with hungry punters, who arrived in their droves from all over the South East. This was evidenced in the spread of winners of the luxury hampers which were up for grabs on the night, the lucky winners coming from Enniscorthy, Gorey and Arklow.

‘This is our annual event,’ said Rosaleen Casey, Manager at Pettitt’s Enniscorthy store. ‘Basically it’s our way of giving back to the community. Really the idea is to give families a fun night out before the kids go back to school. We were delighted with the attendance on the night and people came from all over to be there. A lot of hard work and planning goes into the night but it’s well worth it when we hear the great feedback from customers and hear that they had a great time.’

The lucky winners of the hampers on the night were the Gleeson family from Ballyedmond, Jackie Kehoe from Arklow and Peter O’Brien from Enniscorthy. Pettitt’s thanked everyone who came along on the night, along with everyone who helped out, and they are already planning next year’s event.
