Lack of supply locally say PN O’Gorman
PROPERTY prices and housing shortages have been dominating national media in recent times and there is no denying that property prices are increasing which Anne Carton of P N O’Gorman, New Ross attributes to a shortage of houses on the open market partly due to the fact that very few new houses have been built and those still in negative equity are staying put.
A point worth noting she adds is that house prices in Co. Wexford are still are 25% below the national average based on a myhome.ie recent property report at €165,000 for a 4 bed semi detached.
We have witnessed increased enquiries and sales from first time buyers in the range of €120 – 160,000 in the last quarter and now our biggest challenge is lack of supply which will temporarily create price inflation until we see a steady supply of both new and second hand housing coming to the market.
