FETHARD ST MOGUE’S

The senior football put in another poor performance against bottom of the table Horeswood in their final group game last weekend. After a poor start in a low scoring first half Fethard took the lead after 20 minutes. However, some suicidal defending saw then concede the first goal off the match five minutes later.

They conceded the first three points of the second half while missing chances including hitting the crossbar and failing to convert a penalty. They were thrown a lifeline when Joe Sutton bundled in a goal after 15 minutes. However, they were undone with the concession of another soft goal five minutes later. They upped their game in the last five minutes but couldn’t get the required scores as they bowed out of the championship losing 2-6 to 1-6.

Earlier in the day the Junior B footballers had a good win over Taghmon in the District semi-final. Aided by a strong breeze early points from Adam Swan and Darren Foley helped them to an eight point lead at the break. Three goals from the impressive Adam Swan and a fourth from Conor O’Donoghue helped them to a 4-11 to 0-6 victory and a place in the final against Bannow-Ballymitty.
