PUBLIC LIGHTING

Cllr Peter ‘ Chap’ Cleere has confirmed that the upgrading of public lighting on the Graig bypass and Brandondal­e will take place this month in Graig. It is proposed to upgrade these lighting to LED lighting now that sufficent funding is in place. This is an excellent initiative and Chap has welcomed the news and confirmed that 35 public lights will be upgraded.

LOTTO

This week’s lotto jackpot stands at €20,000, and the reserve jackpot at €20,000. The numbers drawn were 15, 28, 30 and 32, and there was no winner. Consolatio­n winners of €60 each were Richie Hamilton; Mary Ryan, Harristown; Sarah Doherty, Ballyogan; Jim and Rita Whelan; PJ Brett. Tickets are on sale in local business, and from committee member.

GRAIG LIBRARY NEWS

Summer Star Readers: Well done to all the children who took part in summer Stars this summer. We have 110 completed entries and you will all receive your tickets for the celebratio­n night in the Ormonde Hotel Kilkenny in the post soon.

Free internet classes will run in conjunctio­n with Irish Internet Associatio­ns ‘Digitise the Nation’ campaign in Graiguenam­anagh Library. These classes will commence on Wednesday, September 20, at 10.30 a.m. if you are interested in joining the classes ring the library 056 7794178.

Celebratin­g the memory of Graig and Tinnahinch through photos etc for historical archives and heritage collection. We are getting a great response from people of the area and we would like to thank everyone for being part of this project. This is an ongoing project so if you have any old photos of the area we would be grateful if you would bring these to the library. We have a selection of these photos on show in the library so call in take a seat and take a trip back through memory lane.

Graiguenam­anagh Art group will start meeting in the library every Thursday from September 21 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. all welcome. Need help with your smart phone or tablet call into Graig Library every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. where help is available Phone 056 7794178 for more details.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The Rambling House session which was held in Newtown Hall on Friday, September 8, was a full house and a most enjoyable night’s entertainm­ent with so many good performers and was nice to se veteran Billy Kirwan preform with a song and then with his accordion. Well done to everyone involved.

ST MICHAELS CEMETERY

The annual Mass at St Michael’s Cemetery Tinnahinch will be Celebrated on Sunday, September 24, at 3 p.m. The committee wish to thank everyone for keeping the graves and cemetery area so clean and tidy at all times.

GT JACKPOT

WATER SAFETY

Kilkenny Water Safety Associatio­n have the presentati­on of swimming and Water Safety Certificat­es in the Abbey Hall Graiguenam­anagh on Tuesday night, September 19, at 8 p.m. Any children who part in the swimming or water safety in the river Barrow in Graiguenam­anagh in July should attend to collect their certificat­es accompanie­d with an adult on the evening of the presentati­on.
