PARISH WORKS

During the summer a number of necessary works were carried out on parish property. These included repair works to the tower at St David’s church Mullinarri­gle sealing all external water from entering the church. The total outlay here was €20,037 (including vat and fees). An improved outside lighting system for the Rosbercon Church and Parochial House came in at €11,952 (including Vat) while the removing of a row of brickwork from the wall separating the New Cemetery Extension from the main cemetery cost €1,668 (including Vat) to complete.

VAT REFUNDS

The parish has recently received a cheque from the Revenue for €19,519 in tax refunds for the years 2015/2016. This is as result of tax paid by parishione­rs both those on PAYE and the Self Assessed on donations to the church which were refunded to the parish funds. This is a very welcome addition to the parish coffers and many thanks goes to all those who he co-operated in the scheme,

WEDDING BELLS

Many congratula­tions to James Byrne, Curraghmor­e, Tullogher and Meghan Gossage from Bandon Co Cork, who were married in Rome recently. They met while students in the same college both studying archaeolog­y and here’s wishing that they plan a bright future together.

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

The positions available are, two Environmen­t Workers, two Lake Attendants, three Activity Co-Ordinators, two Warehouse Assistants, one Office Administra­tor. PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

The Legion of Mary Day Pilgrimage to Knock takes place next Sunday, September 24, with the bus fare at €25 and meals extra and a matter for the individual pilgrim. There will be stop at the Bridge House Tullamore both on the outward and inward journey. The departure points and times are as follows, Murphy’s Garage, Glenmore, 6.15 a.m., Slieverue Church, 6.20 a.m., Ferrybank Church, 6-25, Hypermarke­t Waterford, 6-30 and the Rising Sun Mullinavat, 6.50 a.m. If you would like to travel on this pilgrimage please contact May at 087 7148100 as soon as possible.
