Ten Pin Bowling: There will be a Ten Pin Bowling Tournament in Leisure Max, Wexford, on October 18 – €7 per player. Lunch will cost €7 (optional) and to be booked on the day. Tea or coffee will be served. A cup will be presented to the winning team that they will keep for a year and will be given out on the day. St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange is holding its annual open day on Friday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will have representa­tives and informatio­n on their services in St Louis Day Care Centre and also representa­tives and informatio­n on community based services in their area. CHESS CLUB

Chess club is back and will be running from Monday, September 25, at 3 p.m. Anya Shannon will run the first Monday, but we will need volunteers to run a rota from then on. Syd and Glyn have kindly offered once again to give freely of their time and expertise and they will be on hand to coach every week. The club is open to children from first to sixth class. The cost is €1 per week to cover the costs of running the club (purchasing of sets etc).

CE SCHEME

We at South West Wexford FRC are supporting people to re-enter the workforce, gain practical work experience locally and work towards recognized qualificat­ions through the opportunit­y of free Training at QQI Level three up to Level six and onwards.

We are presently recruiting for Front Desk Receptioni­sts/ Administra­tors under the above programme.

The criteria for participat­ing on the CE Scheme programme is: over 21 years old and in receipt of a Social Welfare payment for 12 months or more.

Sympathy is extended to the Kehoe family on the death of Martin Kehoe Jnr, Foulksmill­s last Tuesday in a tragic farm accident.

UP FOR THE MATCH

Congratula­tions to Evelyn Barry, who won two tickets to the all-Ireland Football Final in a competitio­n on the Up For the match programme on RTÉ. Included in the prize was a two night stay in a Dublin hotel and €2,000 spending money. Evelyn and her mother Helen were collected on Sunday morning and brought to Croke Park where they enjoyed what turned out to be a thrilling all-Ireland Final.

WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club’s lotto jackpot of €11,900 so next week’s jackpot stands at €12,000. The club had two lucky-dip winners who won €30 each. The winning numbers were 4, 6, 11 and 14.

PROGRESSIV­E 45

The winners of the Progressiv­e 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall, Saltmills last Sunday night were Pat Whelan, Maureen Eustace and Joan Fardy, in second place were Margaret Cullen, Jimmy Cullen and John Joe Murphy. There was a tie for third place between Nicholas Doyle, Johnnie Flynn and Seán Doyle and Kathleen Cadogan, Statia Finn and Tony Murphy.

The last game draw was won by Jack Waters, Tom Culleton and Michael Kehoe.

The raffle winners were Billy Shannon, Margaret Cullen, Johnnie Doyle and Elis Breen.

FETHARD ST MOGUE’S

The junior B Footballer­s played Bannow-Ballymitty in the New Ross District Final last week. Bannow started strongly and a penalty in the third minute gave them a four point lead. However Fethard steadied the ship and Seán Foley’s accuracy from placed balls saw them trail by just two points at the break. However Bannow were the dominant side in the second half and went on to win by 1-12 to 0-9 to claim the title.

The intermedia­te hurlers played Oulart last Saturday in Hollymount, full report in next week’s paper.

COISTE NA NÓG

The under-14 Hurlers play Glynn-Barntown in the Division 2 County Final next Saturday, September 30, in Taghmon at 12.30. Please come along and support the lads.

BI-CENTENNIAL

On October 1, the Saltmills and St Kearns Community Group will mark the bi-centenary of Tintern Bridge in Saltmills. Following a guided tour of the bridge and surroundin­g areas, there will be a blessing of the bridge from a specially re-instated’Mass Rock’, commemorat­ive tree-planting and music.

Following the launch of a flotilla of 200 eco-friendly water lanterns down the river, there will be refreshmen­t in the Colclough Memorial Hall with proceeds of a raffle going towards a defibrilla­tor.

The celebratio­n is open to all. Please assemble at Vine Cottage Bar at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, to join the guided walking tour or gather on the Saltmills side of the bridge at 4 p.m. for the celebratio­ns.
