FOURTEEN year old JS Graham will be flying the flag for New Ross in the World Kickboxing Championships later this month.

JS from Balinaboola will take part in the championships in Portugal on October 27 and October 29 competing in the light contact and point fighting categories.

This is his first time taking part in the world championships and JS and his family not to mention his coaches are very excited and are hoping to bring back some silverware.

He secured his place in the world championships through an accumulation of points in various competitions throughout the year.

A second year student at Colaiste Abban JS trains with Anonymous Kickboxing in New Ross having started off with its predecessor Celtic Dragons.

His interest in the sport was piqued when he was just six years old and he received a leaflet for Celtic Dragons in school.

Retuning home he told mum Maryka he would like to try the sport and was immediately hooked.

The oldest child of Maryka and Jason JS has three siblings, brothers Hanry and Juan and sister Joryka.

Maryka said JS is super excited about taking part in the international competition.

‘He is really excited about going. His dad Jason is travelling over with him and I am hoping to go over for the competition itself. He trains two evenings a week with the club and he also does a lot of practice at home himself.’

The Anonymous Kickboxing Club is hosting a fundraising kiddies disco on October 6 in Rosbercon Hall between 7 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. There will be spot prizes on the night.
