Dark to Dawn walk at Pink Rock in aid of Pieta

-

THE annual Dark to Dawn walk in aid of Pieta House in Waterford city will take place on Sunday, October 22.

Organised by St Joseph’s Athletics Club the four mile walk will raise money for Pieta House suicide awareness in Waterford, which provides invaluable support to people in distress from the New Ross area.

People of all ages will gather at the Pink Rock in Glenmore on October 22 at 6.30 a.m. and walk into the light while remembering loved ones who have passed on in tragic circumstances.

Maggie O’Connor of St Joseph’s AC said: ‘Everyone participating will be given a tealight to carry or bring home, and light later as a symbol of the light of hope.’

There is no requirement to register for the event, just turn up on the morning and give a donation. T-shirts will be provided on a first come, first served basis. All money raised will go to Pieta House in Waterford city.

Breakfast with some light refreshments will be served in the field at the Pink rock after the walk.

‘Last year we had approximately 500 people’, said Maggie ‘so please spread the word and come and raise much needed funds for Pieta House, Waterford.’

The Pink Rock in Glenmore is on the old Waterford to New Ross Road where construction of the New Ross bypass bridge is under way. Entrance to this road is at the New Ross side of Glenmore.

There will be ample parking with numerous stewards at the turn off on the N25 to the venue. For more information see the St Joseph’s A.C. Dark to Dawn event page or contact Maggie on 0876242017.
