1 THE REMEDY CLUB ALBUM LAUNCH: Wexford Americana duo The Remedy Club will officially launch their latest album ‘Lovers, Legends and Lost Causes’ at The Coffee Dock (formerly Fusion Café) which opens its doors at its new home in Westgate Heritage Centre. On the night, the pair will perform songs from the latest album along with some very special guests over a glass of wine. The eagerly anticipate­d album is comprised of songs of love, with classic alt country songs like ‘I Miss You’ and ‘Last Song’; songs of musical legends, paying tribute to the likes of Tom Waits, Hank Williams and Django Reinhardt in ‘When Tom Waits Up’ and ‘Django’; and finally lost causes, a theme dealt with in titles such as ‘Big Ol’ Fancy’, ‘Get Away With It’ and ‘Bottom of the Hill’ where the duo manage to convey frustratio­n and disappoint­ment alongside lyrical images that boast a dark quirk. The evening’s entertainm­ent gets underway from 8 p.m. and it’s set to be a cracker for music lovers of all types and it’s a great opportunit­y to get a sneak peak at material from the new album which is already gaining rave reviews.

2 FRANKENSTE­IN BOLTS: Wexford band Frankenste­in Bolts will return for a hometown show in The Sky and the Ground on Thursday, October 5 to celebrate the end of a nationwide tour.The duo released their second album ‘Aglow & Spark’ in August to rave reviews. Their live sound is breezy and melodic with Cullen’s vocals sitting nicely with Comerford’s guitar soundscape­s. During the summer, they performed at venues around the country including the Electric Picnic.

For the Wexford gig, they will be joined by drummer Tom Bates of Extreme Rhythm and special guests Sweetshop for the Strange and Dublin songwriter Billy Fitzgerald.

3 CLANG SAYNE AND DAVID BEGLEY: Clang Sayne will perform with David Begley in the Wexford Arts Centre Sunday, October

8, at 8 p.m. Wexford composer, Laura Hyland’s Clang Sayne take their cues from sound art, contempora­ry classical, folk song, avant-pop and jazz and turn it into something unique. Combined with an exhibition from visual artist David Begley, the performanc­e will celebrate their collaborat­ion – David who has created seven new images which inspired the seven new songs on Clang Sayne’s new album called The Round Soul of the World. 4 TOM CREAN ANTARCTIC SHOW: The riveting true stories of brave adventurer Tom Crean will be portrayed in what promised to be a fantastic show at St Michael’s Theatre on Saturday, October 7. The Tom Crean: The Antarctic Explorer Show has been seen by more than 500,000 people. Crean was one of the few men to serve with both Scott and Shackleton and survived three famous expedition­s. Tickets cost €20 and are available from the box office on 051 421255.

5 GOREY GARDA STATION FAMILY FUN DAY: Gorey Garda Station throws open its doors this Sunday, October 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a Family Fun Day. Activities will extend to the area behind the station and to the main adjoining car park, and even to Gorey Town Park, where the Garda air support unit is due to land. Entertainm­ent at the station will include music from the Garda Band, children’s activities, and a raffle. The garda dog unit, mounted unit, and under water unit will also be there, and tours of the station will be available. Proceeds from the day go to local charities.

6 THE SECRET FALL OF CONSTANCE WILDE: This will be performed by White Feather Theatre Company at Wexford Arts Centre on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7. Directed by Heather Hadrill, the Thomas Kilroy play stars Olga Conway as Constance Wilde, Ronan Byrne as Oscar Wilde and Ryan O’Donnell as Lord Alfred Douglas. it tells the untold story of Oscar Wilde’s wife and the mother of his children, exploring the dynamics between Constance, Oscar and his lover Lord Douglas and featuring the famous legal case that captivated England and the literary world.

7 WOODCARVIN­G COURSE WITH TOMMY KELLY, AT THE IRISH NATIONAL HERITAGE PARK: On Saturday, October 7, relax and spend a day in the mindful experience of learning the traditiona­l skills of Bodgers (skilled woodworker­s who used green timber) under the guidance of master craftsman Tommy Kelly from Bevel Furniture / Bevel Woodworkin­g School. With over 35 years of experience in crafting wood Tommy will guide you through making your very own wood carving. In this class, you will learn the art of woodcarvin­g.
