AUCTION/MOVIE NIGHT

A documentar­y on the St Kearns explosion which claimed the lives of five men will be shown in Grantstown on Friday, October 6, from 7 p.m. This will be followed by a talk on the tragedy and on the making of the movie. Before the film an auction of items including hotel vouchers, spa vouchers and household items will be held.

DANCING

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday, October 5, by Jimmy Barnwell, no dance on Thursday the 12th changed to Saturday the 14th music by the Wicklow Man, Thursday the 19th Mick Comerford and Michelle Murphy and Thursday the 26th Dick and Ted. Starts from 9.30 all welcome refreshmen­ts served.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Well done to our under-16 camogie girls who played Fethard in New Ross and won which now sees them in a County Final this weekend. Check Facebook for time and venue. Enjoy the build up everyone.

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening. Tickets are two euro each and can be purchased from the post office Carrig, Seabreeze Laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg Wellington or from any club officer. Jackpot is €12,800.

Deepest condolence­s to the Nolan Family on the passing of Mary, who had a great associatio­n with our club with away matches. May she rest in peace.

Bingo – The weekly bingo on Monday nights will change back to an 8 p.m. start from Monday, October 2. Volunteers welcome to help out at our weekly bingo, if you have some free time on a Monday evening and wish to volunteer please contact Ballymitty Hall at 087 2664412.

TAE KWON DO

CORACH NEWS

This week’s Corach Ramblers split-the-pot winner is Michael Murphy jnr Kilcaven winning €691... Well done, Michael. Thx a million to everyone for your continued support.

A-team were at home to Moyne yesterday in the first round of the Leinster junior cup and had a hard earned 5-4 victory after extra time.

Corach’s B team hosted Castledock­rell on Sunday in the afternoon kickoff. The boys continued their 100% start to the season with an incredible 10-2 victory. There will surely be tougher days ahead but these men are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Corach Ladies got back to business with a 5-1 away win. Sarah Eustace, Shannon McDonald and Sinéad O’Connor put us 3-0 up before a dodgy peno in the 59th minute of the first half saw the half time score at 3-1. Geraldine Curtis and Claire Eustace ensured the win in the second half.

Under-13s got their season off to a 4-3 loss today to Cloughbawn. Goals from Cillian Cullen (2) and Alex Power (1)

Under-15s got their season off to a good start this afternoon at home v Ballymurn Celtic. Goals from Dylan Murphy, Joe Devlin (2) and Ben Smith sealed a 4-2 win with standout performanc­es from Cathal Cummins, Cody Meyler and Micheál Dundon. These boys have a lot more in the tank and if they continue to work hard could be serious contenders this season.

STUDY CENTRE

CHARITY HUNT

The Killinick Harriers charity Hunt canter will take place on Sunday, October 8, from 9 a.m. at Ballycogel­y hall last horse 1 p.m. All jumps optional.

BALLYMITTY NS

Parent and toddler group every Wednesday and Friday 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. All Community members are welcome to come along with their toddlers. €2.50 per child. Tea and coffee available.

SAD PASSING

The death occurred this week of Tom McDonald Ballymakes­ey, Clonroche formerly from Barrystown. Tom was a renowned historian and a member of the local historical society where his depth of knowledge was invaluable. Funeral Mass was in St Clement’s church Cloughbawn with burial afterwards in Clongeen cemetery. Tom is survived by his brother John and sister Helen. May he rest in peace.
