Cushinstown
GAA CLUB NEWS
Congratulations to the adult junior footballers on a hard fought win over Oylegate in the semi-final on Saturday last. Three points from Tadgh Cody in the first 20 minutes kept Cushinstown in contention. We knew it would be our day when nearing the end of the half a point from Bob Murphy off his left foot sailed over the black spot. Six points all at half time. We had a good spread of scores from everyone in the second half including a peach from the wily veteran Ollie (goose) Bolger. Final score 0.11 to 0.09. The final is likely to be in two weeks time so dust off the flags.
There was great relief in Belfield last Saturday week when our hurlers retained their intermediate status with a good win over Ballygarrett on a scoreline of 0.16 to 1.11. The lads really dug deep and If the last 10 minutes could be bottled till Spring 2018 we would be participating in the business end of the championship.
Best of luck to the junior footballers in the county final. No result at the time of going to press so hopefully everyone is currently celebrating.

FETHARD ST MOGUE’S
The intermediate hurlers played favorites Oulart last weekend in Hollymount in very windy conditions. Oulart had the benefit of the wind in the first half but were rocked when a Mark Wallace free dropped short and Graham O’Grady was on hand to finish to the net to give Fethard a two point lead after eight minutes.
The Fethard defence were under pressure for the remainder of the half but stood strong and Seán Foley brought off a very good save. Oulart scored the next eight points, all from placed ball much to the dismay of the Fethard fans who felt some of the frees were of the very soft nature. However, two late points from Mark Wallace left just five between the sides at the break.
Fethard were the dominant side in the second half with substitute Ciaran Dwyer getting a couple of nice points. They limited Oulart to just two points frees in the second half but it took a wonderful point from a sideline ball by Mark Wallace to give Fethard the lead with five minutes to go. For the second match in a row they finished strongly and Brian Donoghue scored the last point to give them a 1-14 to 0-13 win. They now face Duffry Rovers in the final.
