A MILLINER from Glenmore is making a name for herself in the fashion world after one of her hats was worn by the Waterford Rose.

Berr Upton discovered her love of fashion and art at an early age. Following her Leaving Cert she went on to study fashion design and garment construction.

During her first year, she was a finalist in a RTE fashion design competition for Walt Disney, winning a Disney certificate and gift for creating a custom and constructing a creation for the character Cruella De Vil of 102 Dalmatians which was launched in cinema that year.

For many years she worked in the fashion and accessories business, travelling around Ireland doing full store displays and refits. Berr said: ‘During the last few years, having worked in the financial industry, I knew I wanted to go back and study so I did, studying Millinery and the textiles industry.’

In September 2016, she launched her new business Beautiful Millinery. Working from a studio at home in Glenmore, she specialises in handmade bespoke hats and fascinators. Her pieces are unique and are made entirely by hand She creates one off designs for weddings and races.

During the summer, she was honoured to have her pieces worn by the Waterford Rose Chloe McGrath. Also, Berr had a huge number of custom made millinery creations at this year’s Ladies Style Day Tramore Racecourse in August. Some of her pieces are pre designed and ready to wear, and can be found on her Facebook page Beautiful Millinery. Berr offers a free consultation with colour matching service for all her customers.
