FETHARD ST MOGUE’S GAA

The intermediate hurlers played Duffry Rovers in the County Final last weekend, full report in next week’s paper.

COISTE NA NÓG

The under-14 Hurlers played Glynn-Barntown in the Division 2 County Final which was rearranged for Rathangan last weekend. In very poor conditions they led by a point after 10 minutes but the physically stronger Glynn team enjoyed a purple spell scoring 2-2 without reply. A Seán Nunan point and a brace of frees from the accurate Cian Byrne meant seven points separated the teams at the break.

With the aid of the hill Fethard set about reducing the lead and when Eoin Whelan was fouled, Cian put over the resultant free to leave two between the sides after 15 minutes. Unfortunately the long delay while the referee gave a yellow card to the Glynn player who was guilty of the foul on Eoin upset their rhythm. Two quick frees for Glynn put them in control again. Cian replied with two more pointed frees and was bearing down on goal when he was fouled again. A second Glynn player was sent to the line and Cain tapped over the free. However, they couldn’t get the equalizer as Glynn won 2-9 to 0-14 despite the gallant effort of the lads.

The under-14 Footballers took on Buffers Alley in the Division 2 County Final last Friday night in St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy. The Moguegeen Gaels (Fethard and Clongeen) took on Crossabeg-Ballymurn in the Minor Football R2 Shield Final also in St Patrick’s Park last Thursday evening.
