CAMROSS ICA

Our last meeting was held on Monday, October 2, in Camross hall. Sympathy was extended to Joan Whitty for the recent passing of her husband Jim. Dympna congratulated Mary Kelly for holding a very successful coffee day which, to date, has raised over €2,000 (still counting) for the Wexford Hospice Homecare. Well done Mary and Gerald. Dympna also complimented the ladies who recently took part in the fun walk held in JFK Park in aid of Cottage Autism and SVP Calodagh McCumiskey from Spiritual Earth (spiritualearth.ie) gave us an inspiring talk on the numerous benefits of meditation. Her talk initiated a great conversation between the ladies who enjoyed exchanging numerous tips on how to beat stress.

Delicious tea and scones were then served by Peggy Doyle and Marie Margaret Roche. The winner of our monthly competition of the ‘biggest cooking apple’ was Dympna Kelly.

CAROREIGH SCHOOL NEWS

This week both the Taghmon/ Caroreigh boys and girls’ teams had wins in the Rackard League, the boys over Adamstown and St Senan’s and the girls over Ballindaggin and Adamstown. Well done to all and continued good luck in the next rounds.

Wednesday was a busy day in the school, as it was Fire Safety Week, the pupils had a fire drill and were surprised to see two Fire Tenders pull up outside the school. They enjoyed seeing inside the fire engines and had great fun with the hoses and other equipment. The Firemen were busy answering all the pupils’ questions.

Also on Wednesday, as it was the feast ofSt Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals, Fr McGuire invited the pupils and members of the community to bring their pets to the school at 2 p.m. for a special blessing. There was a great turn out of animals, including a pony. Thanks to Fr McGuire.
