DANCING

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday the 19th Mick Comerford and Michelle Murphy and Thursday the 26th Dick and Ted. Starts from 9.30 all welcome refreshmen­ts served.

GAA CLUB NOTES

The lotto draw takes place this Tuesday night with a jackpot of 13,100. Tickets can be purchased from the post office Carrig, Seabreeze Laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg, Wellington­bridge, and from any Club Officer in Grantstown.

There was plenty of County Finals for our underage of the club during the week. First up was the under-16 boys’ Hurling squad who took on Davidstown in Enniscorth­y on Saturday. They took a win of 4-10 to 2-1. Well done to all involved with this group of Boys Seán, Kieran, Alan and Jack.

Whelan and his under-16 camogie faced Cushinstow­n in Kilmore but unfortunat­ely lost in a thriller of a game finishing up 6-6 to 10-2. Grainne Foley wrote a smashing report on our Facebook page well worth a read.

Following these games on Tuesday evening under the lights in St Patrick’s Park the under-16 boys’ football team played Kilrush in their Shiel County Final. Another thriller of a game that came to the wire and lost by three points with a score of 3-9 to 3-6. Well done boys and great achievemen­t on getting so far and thanks also to Kieran, Alan, John and Niall for all your help.

The Junior Ladies played in their league semi-final against Taghmon on Sunday and that sees them finishing fir the season. Well done to the team and their mentors Pat Fitzharris and Amy Power.

BINGO

The weekly bingo on Monday nights has changed back to an 8 p.m. start from Monday, October 2. Volunteers welcome to help out at our weekly bingo, if you have some free time on a Monday evening and wish to volunteer please contact Ballymitty Hall at 087 2664412.

TAE KWON DO

Tae Kwon Do classes continue in Ballymitty Hall on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. And Fridays at 7.30 p.m. Classes are open to adults and children. The classes are run by John and Linda Phillips, contact John at 086 3893382for further informatio­n.

DEATH

Deepest sympathy to Pat Fitzharris and family Bannow on the death of his mother Christina on October 3 Christina, who was in her 88-year died peacefully at her home in Boley Ballyculla­ne. May she rest in peace. winner, Tommy Power while the previous week the club also had one match-three winner, Martin Power. The winning numbers were 8, 12, 24 and 29.

PATRICK O’LEARY R.I.P.

The death occurred on Friday, September 29, of Patrick O’Leary, Houseland, Fethard-on-Sea, Wexford. His Funeral Mass took place in All Saints Church, Templetown with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Deeply regretted by his niece and nephew, extended family, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

PHIL MOLLOY R.I.P.

The death occurred on Saturday, September 23, of Phil Molloy, Balliniry, Ramsgrange, Wexford. Sadly missed by his wife Eileen, daughters Colette and Orla, sisters Maureen, Josie, Peggy, Mena, Betty, brothers Paddy, John, Brendan and his son-in-law Paddy and relatives, neighbours and friends.

His Funeral Mass took place in St Aidan’s Church, Poulfur, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery Poulfur. Sympathy is extended to his family.

PARISH DRAW

The winners of the September Draw were first Prize Shannon Family, second prize Mary Reville and third Prize Denis Morrissey.

COISTE NA NÓG

The Moguegeen Gaels (Fethard and Clongeen) took on Ballyhogue in the Minor Hurling R2 Shield Final. Trailing by four points at the interval they faced a strong onslaught from Ballyhogue in the third quarter which extended the lead to five. However, points from Jimmy Sutton, Aaron Murphy and Adam Waters left just two between the sides with two minutes remaining. However Ballyhogue finished with 1-1 to give them a flattering six point win on a 3-9 to 0-12 scoreline. The under-14 Footballer­s took on Buffers Alley in the Division 2 County Final. Unfortunat­ely it turned out to be a disappoint­ing night for the boys as they lost out against a very strong Alley side on a 3-7 to 0-7 scoreline.

SPLIT-THE-POT

This month’s Saltmills and St Kearns split-the-pot winner is Ned Finn, who won €106, congratula­tions Ned. The next draw will take place on October 29.

TABLE QUIZ

St Louis Day Care Centre are holding a table quiz on Saturday, November 4, at 9 p.m. in Sláinte Bar, Ramsgrange Cost per person €10 for table of four. Prize of €100 for winning table plus raffle prizes on the night. All proceeds go towards the ongoing mini bus fundraiser.

ART EXHIBITION

Local emerging artist Alison Tubritt from Gurtins, Saltmills has been selected to exhibit her work at a group exhibition along with three other emerging artists at the Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow. The opening took place on Sunday, October 15, the exhibition will run till November 10 This is a great opportunit­y to see her new series ‘Equus Caballus II’. All welcome to attend the opening and view the work of four very talented artists.
