Local community pulls together as St Louis Day Care gets its wheels
THE community of Ramsgrange pulled together for the recent St Louis Day Care Centre open day, which was a great success.
Staff from the day care centre were celebrating, as they had received their new 14-seater mini-bus, which will be used to provide services carried out at the centre.
‘We got the bus through funding from the HSE, donations from visitors and we held various fundraisers,’ said Manager Laura Rowe.
The new mini-bus will be used to collect and drop off guests, provide meals on wheels service, and for outings through the year.
Meanwhile, the open day consisted of various stalls and exhibitors from HSE health professionals, who provided information about physiotherapy, counselling, and occupational therapy.
The community based services, who were also at the open day, included Wexford Local Link, Active Retired, Ramsgrange and Duncannon ICA, Ramsgrange Men’s Shed, Ramsgrange Community School and South West Wexford Horticultural Group.
‘We started the open day to make elderly people aware of what is available at our centre, but also what organisations are within the community ,’ said Ms Rowe.
Ms Rowe said the feedback they received about the open day was very positive, and they hope to continue the event. It gives people a chance to talk to the professionals.
St Louis Day Care Centre provides quality care and essential services so older people can live independently.
Services include: transport, meals on wheels, laundry, showers, activities and outings, catering, chiropody, counselling, hairdressing and physiotherapy.
