Broken down truck causes chaos on bridge

-

THERE were lengthy snarlbacks of traffic on either side of O’Hanrahan Bridge on Thursday morning when a truck broke down at the corner of the bridge.

Parents on school runs and commuters were puzzled by the lengthy delays which began at 9.40 a.m. lasting for over an hour at the busiest time of the day on O’Hanrahan Bridge.

One parent who got stuck on the bridge having dropped his child to St Canice’s NS in Rosbercon said: ‘ The bypass can’t come soon enough. This happens several times a year and effectively closes one lane of the bridge off to drivers.’

A female garda directed traffic and the lorry was on the road before 10 a.m., freeing up traffic to move smoothly across the bridge.
