Mechanic facilitated storage of stolen JCB
Mechanic Dariusz Dypolt (33) of Ballindoney, Ballywilliam should have smelled a rat when he allowed someone leave a JCB in his yard, the barrister defending him at Wexford Court accepted.
The case arose on April 1, 2015 when Ciaran Barry discovered that the JCB worth €32,000 had been removed without his permission from Stony Park at Carcur in Wexford.
It was recovered soon afterwards by Enniscorthy gardaí who interviewed Dypolt in connection with the matter.
He admitted facilitating the storage of the stolen vehicle at Forrestalstown and pleaded guilty to handling stolen property.
Now employed as a mechanic with a transport company, the father of three was unemployed at the time.
‘He should have realised there was something up,’ accepted counsel, acknowledging that her client was reckless as to whether or not the JCB was stolen.
Judge John Coughlan felt that the crime merited a five month prison sentence but he was persuaded to suspend the jail term, adding a fine of €100.
