Top-class racing
Fine fare in Unraced Stake semis
AS EXPECTED, the semi-finals of the Red Mills Future Champion Unraced Stake produced top-class racing at Enniscorthy Dog Track.
The two star performers of the previous week stepped up again with two excellent performances, building to what has been described as potentially one of the best finals in years.
The first semi saw Running Senor, who has changed hands during the week, show no ill-effects from the change of kennel as he overcame an early bump from traps from Badminton Ronan. He pushed on to lead and ran on strongly to hold the finishing run of Ravenswood Marty by two lengths in a fast 28.54.
He looks the one to beat but the second semi-final winner, Burgess Brandy, also impressed.
Although he was not as quick on the clock, he was held up a few times and is a big danger to all.
His time was 28.79 but he can and will do better.
He lacks the early form of some of the others but if he is near off the last bend he will be coming home best.
It is far from a two-dog race and a very good final is expected.
The Vimmerby consolation stake final is also up for grabs, and the two semis saw Jacobs Deed and Piercestown Lord score in times of 28.87 and 28.81 respectively. Once again a very good final is on the cards.
The Heineken A2 final should also be a tough one to sort out, but if Tycoon Prince can break again like he did the last time he will be hard to beat after a fine semi-final win in 28.80.
