COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT

We at South West Wexford FRC are supporting people to re-enter the workforce, gain practical work experience locally and work towards recognized qualificat­ions through the opportunit­y of free Training at QQI Level three up to Level six and onwards.

We are presently recruiting for the following: Front Desk Receptioni­st/Administra­tors and Community Café Assistant under the above programme.

The criteria for participat­ing on the CE Scheme programme are over 21 years old and in receipt of a Social Welfare payment for 12 months or more.

GAA NOTES

St James GAA Coiste na nÓg will hold its annual general meeting on Friday, November 24, at 8 p.m. in the meeting room in Mersheen. The roles of chairperso­n, secretary and treasurer will all need to be filled on the night. Anyone interested in these roles please contact Larry Crosbie. Fresh ideas and new blood is needed to drive things forward for the coming years. Get involved and help support your club.

Under-16s – Everyone in St James GAA Club would like to congratula­te our under-16 hurlers and footballer­s on their recent successes. While the footballer­s were defeated in the county final by a strong Ballyhogue side, the hurling team delivered the goods with an impressive win over Ballygarre­tt.

Attending the function to mark the 150th anniversar­yof Cushinstow­n parish were Kathleen Franklin from Terrerath; Angela Power, Nash; Lillian O’Hanlon, Rochestown and Cecelia O’Neill, Terrerath.

For such a young team to get to two county finals in Division 2 in one season bodes well for the future. Well done to all the players and their management teams.

Talent Competitio­n – Well done to all competitor­s who have taken part in the Talent Show being run in Sláinte over the past two Friday nights. The competitio­n continues over the next couple of weeks.

DRAMA

New Ross drama Workshop will perform two one-act plays in Campile Hall on Wednesday, November 1, at 8 p.m. Plays are ‘Losers’ by Brian Friel and ‘Tinkers’ by JM Synge. Admission is €10.

CAMPILE HALL

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night. We welcome each and every one senior citizens, young and children alike to try it and enjoy a great night out and win some money into the bargain.

MEDITATION CLASSES

Weekly Meditation classes with Reiki Therapist, Ann Considine of Tranquil Healing are ongoing at South West Wexford Family Resource Centre. There will be a choice of morning or evening classes. Campile Hall Parents Supervised study group is going well so far but we still have some places available if anyone else is interested in joining, this study group is the perfect opportunit­y to get homework or study done without any of the usual home distractio­ns three evenings a week here in Campile Hall.

IRISH FOR PARENTS

Introducti­on to Irish for parents of primary school children. These classes are for beginners and are designed around the primary school curriculum with view to helping your child with Irish homework. These classes have started on Wednesdays and the venue is South West Wexford FRC. These classes are delivered by a fully qualified tutor in a relaxed and learner friendly environmen­t.
