windswept Fenagh. Fethard got off to an ideal start when Eddie Power got on the end of a Graham O’Grady delivery and finished to the net. Things got even better when John Tubritt repeated his exploits from the county final when he soloed through from midfield and finished to the net. Mark Wallace’s accuracy from frees and play plus points from Garret Foley and Daire Barden gave Fethard a nine point lead at the break.

Naomh Brid upped their game in the second half but the Fethard defence denied them the goal they needed with Richard Waters in particular breaking up many attacks while Mark Wallace kept the score board ticking over. Fethard prevailed on a 2-11 to 0-9 scoreline and are now through to the Leinster semi-final where they will be away to the winners of Erins Own, Dublin and Trumvera, Laois.

It would have been the perfect end to a long hard season to do the double but it was a fantastic achievement to win the Junior A championship, finish runners-up in the league and so qualify to play intermediate football next year.

Well done to all the girls for all their hard work this year and best of luck for next year.
