Mayglass man who cultivated cannabis plants has sentencing adjourned

A MAYGLASS man who pleaded guilty to the cultivatio­n of cannabis plants had sentencing adjourned to allow for the preparatio­n of a Probation and Welfare report.

Raymond Richardson, of Mayglass, Ballycogle­y, pleaded guilty to two drug-related offences when he appeared before Judge Martina Baxter at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court.

The 53-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Mayglass on December 8, 2015. He further pleaded guilty to the cultivatio­n of cannabis plants.

Defence Counsel Philip Sheahan asked for sentencing to be adjourned. He also asked the court to direct the preparatio­n of a Probation and Welfare report. He also said there is very little chance of re-offending.

Prosecutin­g Counsel Ms Sinead Gleeson said there was no objection to the applicatio­n. She also said there was no objection to bail.

Judge Baxter adjourned sentencing to January 30 next.
