DEEPEST SYMPATHY
The Dempsey family especially and local parish relatives and friends are is mourning at death of both Anne and Sylvester Dempsey of Clongeen after an accident between Larkins Cross and Barntown early last Wednesday afternoon. Our deep felt sorrow goes to their father Mylie, their brothers Séamus and Noel and sisters Martina and Pauline at this time. The accident unfortunately occurred on the anniversary of their mother Ellen, who passed away seven years ago. Their funeral Mass took place in Clongeen on Saturday morning after 11 a.m. Mass and burial in the new cemetery afterwards. Words can’t describe the sorrow for such a terrible thing to be cast on the family but hope that the community can help in any way possible at this really tough time.
DUBLIN CITY MARATHON
Local runner Paul Doran from Horetown, who is a member of the United Striders Club, was the first Wexford man home in the Dublin City Marathon on the Bank Holiday weekend recently. He finished the race in a commendable time of 2:49:41, which put him in 155th place overall out of a total entry of 15,856 including the elite runners. So well done, Paul, on such a great performance.
STONEY LADIES FC
A 2-0 victory over St Cormac’s on Sunday, October 29, got the Stoney Ladies league campaign off to a great start. Hazel Redmond and Sinéad Walsh got two great goals in what was a tough match. The girls had a week off Sunday, November 5, to allow them celebrate their teammate Katie Whelan’s hen party. Hope all had a great time. Check out the sports pages for fixtures each week or ‘like’ our Facebook page ‘Stoney Ladies FC’ for more updates.

THE FORGE VINTAGE CLUB
After another successful year the date has been set for our annual Christmas party and presentation of cheques night. This year it will be held on Saturday, November 25, in the Oak Tree Bar, Foulksmills. With everyone’s support this year we have €11,000 raised and will be handed over to local charities on the night. There will be a buffet dinner served from 9 p.m. and music on the night will be provided by T-Bone Country. Tickets cost are only €15 each and will be available from any club member from next week. Another great night is in store for all who attend, so make sure and get your tickets early. More details to follow over the coming weeks.
PARENTS, BABIES AND TODDLERS GROUP.
This friendly group meets every Wednesday morning during school terms between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. The cost is only €4 per adult which includes refreshments for adults and children. This is a fun and relaxed group with loads of fun activities, crafts and singing, where both parents and children can meet new friends. As toddlers are growing up and moving on to the next step in their young lives, we have loads of room for new comers throughout the year.
By providing a safe and fun environment, the group offers a valuable service where both children and adults can socialise. The group supports the school and the families in the community as many of its members will hopefully eventually send their children to Clongeen National School. For more info, visit and like our Facebook page or you can call or text Véro at 086 1034878.
OVER-35S SOCCER
The new time 6 p.m. time for indoor over-35s again proved popular with 16 players on the pitch for last Saturdays big match. The winning team had a two goal margin in the end after a bit of a sloppy game in comparison to the excellent game the week before with several guys on the losing team just not able to do their normal thing – one of those days I guess. But overall the game was enjoyed by all, especially the Hops, who was on the winning side having scored an excellent headed goal in a competitive second half.
There were still a few latecomers, eating in to the scheduled 6 p.m. kick-off time, please make sure to get there for 5.45 p.m. if at all possible. The indoors venue has both space and time limitations, so being on time is a must and only the first 18 can be accommodated. Should you wish to come along or want to find out more about the group, please feel free to call Dave at 086 8596627. The indoor cost is €5 per player.

All three of our one-act plays will be performed in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola on Thursday, November 9, at 8 p.m. where entry costs is only €10 on the door.
BALLYKELLY DANCE
There will be a dance in Ballykelly hall this Friday, November 10, where music will be provided by Declan Auinger.
