CAMOGIE AND LADIES’ FOOTBALL.
Our minor footballers were out on the Saturday, September 2, and had an emphatic win over Ballyhogue. Then on Sunday, October 8, our under-16 camogie team followed it up with another great game against BannowBallymitty and again coming out on the winning side. Well done players and Mentors of both teams. Our Minors camogie league competition is still on going and your support is most welcome.
CUSHINSTOWN ICA
There was the usual good attendance at the October meeting of Cushinstown Guild. Good progress was reported on the landscaping at the church which is being carried out by a group of dedicated members of the guild. Following a vote it was decided to continue organising the annual senior citizens party. Guest for the night was councillor Michael Sheehan, who gave a very informative presentation on the State pension cuts which have resulted in many retired people, especially women, receiving a reduced income.
TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE IN ST MARY’S CHURCH.
On Friday evening, November 24, at 8 p.m. we will have a Taize prayer service in Cushinstown Church. This special service will be dedicated to the memory of our departed loved ones. All of those present will be able to record the names of deceased family and friends and place a candle in their memory at the foot of the Cross. The Taize group from New Ross have very kindly agreed to lead this service. For those unfamiliar with Taize prayer just a short explanation. Through the use of music, silence, scripture and prayer participants are invited to stillness and meditation. All are welcome along on November 24 to experience this very uplifting form of prayer. Candles will be provided on the night.
