New Ross Historical Society’s next lecture will be on Thursday, November 23, in New Ross Boat Club at 8 p.m. The title is ‘We always vote Redmond in this house’ - The Redmonds and Waterford 1891-1952. The theme is How a Wexford gentry family with no connection to Waterford, who never lived in the city and who rarely visited the city established a lasting bond with the people of Waterford, especially the working class. It was a bond which lasted over 60 years and resisted the rise of Sinn Fein and other political movements. This is the story of John Redmond, his son Captain William Redmond and his widow, Bridget Mary Redmond.

This lecture will be delivered by Dr. Pat McCarthy. Everyone is welcome. Non Members pay €5. Members and students are free. Before the lecture the group will hold their AGM at 7.30 p.m.
