Van was not fit for the road

Lack of a certificate of roadworthiness for the van he was driving cost Gavin Crowdle (21) of Ryleen in New Ross a fine of €150.

The vehicle came to the attention of Sergeant Peter Griffin at Murrintown on December 2 last year.

Solicitor Gerry Flynn accepted that the DOE test was due at the time but reported to Judge Gerard Haughton that the timing belt went, so the vehicle was destroyed.

A €150 fine was handed down.
