Former Rathnure NS pupils enjoy a trip down memory lane
A QUARTER CENTURY on former pupils of Rathnure NS reunited to recall their schoolgoing days.
Sixteen former classmates of the biggest class the school ever had, with around 50 pupils, gathered at Conran’s pub in Rathnure.
Organised by Amanda Lennon-Barron through Facebook, a Newsletter and this newspaper, people travelled from Tipperary and Kildare to attend.
Amanda said: ‘ One of the classmates runs the pub so that was very helpful.’
Amanda said: ‘I was delighted with how it went. Everyone really enjoyed it. We just talked and recalled the old days. In Sixth Class we had around 30 teachers after our teacher went out on maternity leave at Christmas. We remembered a lot of things very clearly.’
The group enjoyed looking at old class photographs and recalling their teachers.
‘We just sat around and reminisced. We agreed to have another reunion in five years time for our 30th reunion.’
