CARDS

The weekly ‘30’ card game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 17, at 9 p.m. Catering on Friday the 17th will be Maureen Bradley, Linda Duffy and Denise Harler. Catering on Friday the 24th will be Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney. Catering on Friday, December 1, will be Gillian O’Neill, Edel Doyle, Ann Marie O’Shea and Geraldine O’Shea. Catering on Friday, December 8, will be Breda Bradley, Kay McCabe and Angela Harrington. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Card winners on Friday the third were: John Hanley, Phil Jackman, Nick Doyle, Andy Reville, Seán Cullen, Johnny Nolan, Matty O’Sullivan and Pat Murphy.

All the card players extend their deepest sympathy on the death of their colleague Michael Hanlon, Boley, Ballyculla­ne, which occurred on Thursday, November 2. Michael had been a regular card player in Adamstown over the past year’s and will be missed by all his friends. To his brother Martin, extended family, relatives and friends our sympathy. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Martin’s’ Church, Ballyculla­ne on Sunday, November 5, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

CANCER FUNDRAISER

Fundraisin­g event ‘Dare to Wear’ in Brad Og’s Bar on Saturday, November 25, at 9 p.m. in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. 80’s Disco and prizes. Wear fancy dress, wedding dress, debs dress or bridesmaid dress. Contact Linda at 087 2215340 for further informatio­n.

MULLINGAR TRIP

Last weekend Wexford Hope and Hospice Group travelled to Mullingar to stage their Comedy Show in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar to raise money for North Westmeath Hospice.

On Friday, 197 people travelled by bus and car for the weekend event. Joined by Blackstair­s Rebel Band, who opened the show on Saturday night, this was followed by two hours of pure comedy which the huge crowd thoroughly enjoyed. Many locals from Adamstown, Newbawn, Camross were part of the group.

The event was organised over many months with Brendan Murphy’s nephew who is one of the managers in the Greville Arms and members of hospice in Mullingar. On Sunday morning when all the proceeds from the night were counted – to the amazement of all the final sum reached €4,614, which was a fantastic amount for hospice, they were so appreciati­ve of the effort made by all the Wexford Crew, who returned home on Sunday afternoon tired but very happy. Well done, all.

SOCIAL DANCE

A Social Dance will be held in St Abban’s Hall on Saturday, November 18. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. to midnight music by Adrian Ryan. Tea served, please come and support.

SYMPATHY

Our condolence­s to Kathleen Lawlor and family Knockreigh, Adamstown on the death of Kathleen’s Brother Tommy Morris, Talbot Green, Wexford, who died recently. Sympathy to his wife Mary, his son Martin, daughters Mary, Valerie, his brothers, sisters extended family, relations, and friends. His burial took place in Crosstown Cemetery after Mass in the Church of the Assumption, Bride Street Wexford. May he rest in peace.

ICA GUILD NEWS

The Christmas Outing to Newbridge Silverware and Whitewater shopping centre will take place on Saturday, December 2, followed by a Christmas Dinner in the Lord Bagheal Inn in Tullow. If anyone would like to join us please contact any ICA member with a non-refundable deposit of €15 before November 20 the cost is €55 approx.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

A Christmas Craft Fair takes place in the Horse and Hound in Ballinaboo­la on Sunday, November 12, from midday till 5 p.m. Entry is free and there will be numerous festive, fun items and decoration­s available to buy including handmade crafts and pottery, hampers, jewellery and cards, knitwear, breads, cakes and preserves. A bumper raffle will take place in aid of New Ross Community Hospital, everyone is invited to come along to kick start the Christmas Season in New Ross.

NOVEMBER MASSES

The November Mass for the Holy Souls will take place from Monday, November 20 – Friday the 24th. All Masses at 7.30 p.m. in St Abban’s Oratory. At the end of Mass each person present will receive a candle, which will be left lighting in front of the altar.

Monday, November 20 – Newtown, The Leap, Knockreigh and Coonogue.

Tuesday the 21st – Oldcourt, Brocurra, Doononey and Fairfields.

Wednesday the Tomgarrow, Misterin, and Adamstown.

Thursday the 23rd – Kellystown, Raheenduff, Chapel and 22nd – Rathkyle the Barracks.

Friday the 24th – Glenour, Ballyvergi­n, Rathsilla and Woodview Drive.

Saturday the 25th – for all those who died during the year.

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.

Envelopes containing lists which you may fill in for the Holy Souls, are on the seats in the church. Please take them home, fill them in and return next Sunday. venue has both space and time limitation­s, being on time is a must and only the first 18 can be accommodat­ed.
