Davy inspires crowd at opening
THERE was great craic in JD North’s bar and venue recently for the official opening and a benefit night for Geraldine O’Hanrahans.
Owner of JD North’s John Quigley said the opening had been a major success with a large turnout. Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald officially opened the bar.
‘We had a really great night’, said John. ‘People really seemed to enjoy the celebrations.
‘Davy Fitz was fantastic. He talked to everyone and was more than happy to take selfies with everyone. He spoke really well and hung around for a good few hours.
‘Brendan Kelly of Geraldine O’Hanrahans also spoke really well about the club and hurling in New Ross. It was a very upbeat atmosphere.’
Various sports memorabilia were auctioned on the night by local auctioneer Des Moloney. Items included a signed and framed Wexford jersey and a framed and signed photograph of the most successful horse trainer of all time Aidan O’Brien.
John said the benefit night had been very good for the club as well.
‘ The club made a good few quid too so that will be great for them. People were very keen to support both us and the club.’
Music on the night was by Seamus Kehoe from Ballycullane who ensured that everyone was well entertained.
JD North’s which opened on July 7 is fast becoming one of the most popular bars in New Ross offering a late bar at weekends.
