CHRISTMAS EVE PARADE
The Christmas Eve Parade with Santa takes place in New Ross at 3 p.m.. New Ross & District Pipe band will hold their traditional Christmas Eve performances beginning at the Dunbrody Famine Ship at 3 p.m. and will be accompanied by reindeer, elves, Mrs. Claus and of course Santa Claus.
WEXFORD PEOPLE WEXFORD ON ICE COURTOWN CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM

Join the North Wexford SPCA in Courtown for a Sponsored Christmas Swim at midday on Christmas Day. Contact the Society on 087 6392531 for a sponsorship card. Funds raised go towards the cats and dogs currently in the care of the Society.
CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM
This event is one of Rosslare’s biggest social occasions, generally wecloming in excess of 1,000 people to the beach. The swim begins at 12 noon, with carol singing beforehand starting at 11.30 at the Christmas Tree. There will be a bucket collection for St. Mary’s Daycare Centre while plenty of swimmers seek sponsorship for various other causes. There will be mulled wine, soup and refreshments after the swim and it is hoped that the event will be streamed live on Facebook.
HORSE SHOE THROWING
The annual Rosslare Horse Shoe Throwing Championships takes place on St Stephen’s Day. Meet in Redmond’s the Bay at midday A great fun day for all involved is promised, with new competitors always welcome.
GOAL MILE
One of the country’s most popular annual events, the GOAL Mile has become an integral part of Christmas for thousands of families. It sees thousands of people run, jog or walk a mile, raising money and awareness of GOAL’s programmes in the developing world.
‘BEAUTY AND THE BEAST’
Robert C. Kelly will present spectacular Christmas Pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’, featuring a star-studded cast including comedian Karl Spain, ‘Red Rock’ star Adam Weafer and RTÉ Junior star and kids favourite Clara Murray. The classic tale will be retold with big sets and glamorous costumes, with plenty of laughs along the way.
THE RATHNURE PANTO MUCK SAVAGE SATURDAY
Junior registration for the 2.5K route starts at 9.15 a.m. with 5K registration taking place at 9.45 a.m. Entry is €5 per child, €10 for adults or €20 for a family. Prizes for first girl and boy home in u10, u14, u18 and adult categories. Refreshments will be served.

The Tara Vale Swimmers take to the water at Ballymoney at midday on New Year’s Day. Sponsorship cards are available from Eamonn O’Connor or Fergus Rapple. Funds raised go to the Jack and Jill Foundation, North Wexford Hospice Homecare, and St Patrick’s Special School, Ennsicorthy. Entertainment afterwards in the Tara Vale lounge from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
CAHORE SWIM
Blow away the cobwebs with a dip in the sea at Cahore Pier at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day. This is the main annual fundraiser for Cahore Inshore Rescue Service lifeboat. Sponsorship cards are available from Gerry O’Loughlin on 087 2771473. Hot soup, hot whiskeys and more will be served on the pier, and the festivities will continue afterwards in the Strand Bar, Cahore, and the Schooner, Ballygarrett.
