GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto Tuesday night with a jackpot of €14,000 and a reserve jackpot of €2,000. Tickets are €2 each and can be purchased from the post office Carrig, Seabreeze Dry cleaners Carrig, Tír na nÓg, Wellington­bridge, and from any Club Officer down in the complex. We had three winners from the last draw well done to John O’Sullivan Tullycanna, Art Murphy Coolhull and Tina Flynn Garrison Road.

On Saturday, December 16, the club will host a Monster Bingo in Carrig Community Center at 8.30. €1,600 in prize money, sit beside prize and Christmas Raffle. Book prices are €10 double, €7 single, baby €3 and the special pink sheet €2. We would like to thank all the bingo players for all their support all year and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Coiste na nÓg AGM was held on Thursday last the following were elected chairman Lar Whelen, secretary Anne Cleary, Assist Denise Castle, treasurer Peter Ennis we wish them all every success in their new position’s.

BALLYMITTY NS

The Christmas Plays and prize-giving are on Wednesday, December 20, from 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. (Junior Infants – second class) and on Thursday, December 21, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (third to sixth class). All parents, grandparen­ts and friends of Ballymitty NS are welcome. Raffle on the day.

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday the seventh by Tom Murphy no dance on Thursday the 14th.

Saturday the 16th Christmas dinner dance with music by Southbound, Thursday the 21st.

SAD PASSING

Deepest sympathy to Tony Kehoe (milk man) on the death of his mother last month.

Also deepest sympathy to Geraldine Donnelly and family Ballymitty on the death of her mother Nora Crowley Cork, who was 100 years young, and who passed away last week in Cork.

SUPERVISED STUDY

Wexford Local Developmen­t and Taghmon Action Group continue their partnershi­p to provide supervised study sessions for secondary school students in Taghmon. Extra places have now become available from January, commencing on January 8 the cost is €5 per week per student to cover the cost of lighting/heating.

MEDAL PRESENTATI­ON

Congratula­tions to the underFéile Double Champions, who were presented with their all-Ireland medals last Saturday night in St Mary’s Hall. This was an unpreceden­ted success for this bunch of players. Well done also to the Moguegeen Gael boys, Fethard/Clongeen on a great one point win in the Martin Storey Gold Plate final in Oulart last weekend. In what was a very competitiv­e game, two late points from Kevin Wallace and Robbie Rochford secured victory on a 1-7 to 1-6 scoreline.

Goals proved the difference as Fethard under-21 footballer­s lost out to Gusserane in the second round of the championsh­ip on a 6-5 to 1-6 scoreline. The intermedia­te hurlers are still awaiting details of their fixture for the all-Ireland semi-final where they will play Sylane of Galway on January 20.

SPORTS CAPITAL GRANT

Fethard St Mogue’s GAA Club were the recipient of even more good news during the week when they received a grant of €57,000 for an indoor sports arena and gym under the Sports Capital Programme. This will further enhance the facilities at Ramstown for all the community.

WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club lotto jackpot of €2,900 so next week’s jackpot stands at €3,000. The club had one lucky-dip winner Ann Waters, who won €30 while Joe Carroll won the sellers prize of €30. The winning numbers were 4, 11, 12 and 31.

TOURIST OFFICE
