There was a meeting of Fethard-onSea Village Developmen­t Committee on the night of December 13 in St Mary’s Hall. The meeting was very well attended with in excess of 50 locals present. Ger Mackey from the Community Department of Wexford County Council and councillor Martin Murphy attended the meeting. Mr Mackey outlined the funding available from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and other Community Developmen­t project possibilit­ies.

A new committee was elected with Thomas Stafford as chairman, Richard Finn vice-chairman, Joe Chapman and Lorcan Barden as treasurers, Sinéad Kidd as secretary and Iseult Bouarroudj as vice-secretary. Fiona Chapman. Ann Wall and Laurene Dryden were sincerely thanked for all the work they have done for the community to date.

A suggestion box will be placed in Dillon’s Londis and a suggestion box email address will also be created to ensure every member of the community can submit their ideas for considerat­ion. The committee would like to thank all the attendees and look forward to great initiative­s for the village in the coming months. The president’s prize was run over two nights and presided over by Claire O’Reilly. The results are as following first Kathleen O’Farrell, second Kay Walsh, third John Halpin, fourth Betty Kelly, and fifth Colette Aylward. Cathy Casey was winner of the Past President’s Prize.
