BARRY Carton fired Cloughbawn back to the top of the Division 2 table with the only goal of the game against Taghmon United on Sunday.

An individual moment of magic from Carton unlocked a well-organised Taghmon back line, he danced by two defenders and fired a rocket into the corner of the net, giving the home goalkeeper no chance.

New Ross Town continued their title bid with a hard-fought 4-3 win over St. Joseph’s, with Jack Foran (two), Stephen O’Leary and Gary Sinnott scoring for the winners.

Brendan McCreary, Brian Kennedy and John O’Leary hit the back of the net for Joey’s but it wasn’t to be their day.
