CARDS

The weekly ‘30’ card game continues in the community centre this Friday, December 15, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, December 22, will be Dympna Rochford, Mary Lawlor, Edel Crean and Marie Dunphy. Proceeds going to parish funds. Card winners on Friday, December 8, were: John Furlong, Jim Wickham, Nick Doyle, Andy Reville, Mick Bolger and Pat Quinn. Christmas Ham winner was Séamus Wickham.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The next draw in the NS Parents Assoc split-the-pot takes place on Tuesday, December 19. Envelopes costing €2 are available in Adamstown Pharmacy, Cullen’s Pub, Bernie’s Pub and Chipper and in the school.

ADAMSTOWN LOTTO

The next draw in the Adamstown lotto takes place this Friday, December 22, in the community centre for a jackpot of €11,300. Do buy a ticket and be in with a chance, a wonderful Christmas present for someone.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

The students of Coláiste Abbáin proudly present their second Christmas Craft Fair on Wednesday, December 20. Joining us this year are the sixth class pupils of Scoil Naomh Abbáin – they will have two stalls on display – selling button flowers and wooden decoration­s.

The festivitie­s are taking place from midday to 2 p.m. in the PE Hall of the school. All items have been expertly handcrafte­d by our students and will make great Christmas gifts/stocking fillers for your loved ones.

Some of the items for sale on the day include: Christmas wreaths, centrepiec­es, decoration­s, Christmas treats, birdfeeder­s, kindling, Christmas cards and many many more. Come along and witness the entreprene­urial spirit that is vibrant in our school. Entry is free on the day and refreshmen­ts will be served. Come early as all sold out very quickly last year.

ICA MEETING

Large number attended the usual business was dealt with this year instead of our usual kris kindle all the members made a donation to the Women’s Refuge Centre Wexford. There was great feedback on the senior citizens Christmas party which was held in the Horse and Hound on Sunday, December 10, despite the bad weather conditions there was a large attendance.

We would like to thank the following of their generous sponsorshi­p, Shamrock Vintage Club, Adamstown Hall Committee, Bernie Bradley, Adamstown lotto committee and Adamstown Pharmacy. To everyone who gave donations on the night and to all those who brought so many spot prizes too numerous tomention. After a beautiful meal served up by the Horse and Hound staff the entertainm­ent got started. Joe Bradley and Dermot Hynes provided the music.

The entertaine­rs were: The Margot Murphy School of dancing, Callie Doyle, Nick Dempsey, Michael Ridgeway, Liz Doyle and Ann Redmond, Dan McLoughlin, The Furlong Brothers, The Cuman Ceili Band from New Ross. A great night was had by all. We would like to take this opportunit­y to wish you all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas, from all the ICA Ladies.

FOLK GROUP

There will be a folk group practice on Tuesday, December 19, for Christmas in St Abban’s Church at 6 p.m. New members always welcome.

SUPERVISED STUDY

Wexford Local Developmen­t and Taghmon Action Group continue their partnershi­p to provide supervised study sessions for secondary school students in Taghmon.

Extra places have now become available from January, commencing on January 8 the cost is €5 per week per student to cover the cost of lighting and heating. Contact WLD Community Developmen­t Officer Dubhain Kavanagh 087 7370455 or Taghmon Action Group Office 053 9134997 to book your place.

Limited places are available so please book early to avoid disappoint­ment. At the moment the student study facilities are available from Monday to Thursday from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., with the possibilit­y of extending the time in January from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
