Grants for older people activities

A total of 47 County Wexford groups are to share in a fund of €12,520 to provide physical activity opportunit­ies for older people.

Recipients in the Go For Life Grant Scheme were announced by the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Brendan Griffin. The aim of the scheme is to improve the health and wellbeing of older people by providing them with opportunit­ies to engage in physical activity and sport.

Among the successful Wexford groups are the 79 Club, Adamstown ICA, Askamore Muintir na Tire Community Project Ltd, Ballyanne ICA, Ballyfad ICA, Ballythoma­s Community Group, Boolavogue ICA, Bree ICA, Bunclody Day Care Services, Bunclody Mothers Union, Camross ICA, Carrig-on-Bannow ICA, Circle of Friends Kilmuckrid­ge ARA, Craanford ARA, Cushinstow­n ICA, Davidstown ICA, Duncannon ICA, Enniscorth­y ICA, Gorey ARA, Gorey ICA, Granstown Day Care Centre, Kilanerin ICA, Kildavin Bowls Club, Kilmore ARA, Kilmore Quay ICA, Kilmuckrid­ge Women Together ARA, Kilmyshall ICA, Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour ICA, Monaseed ICA, Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, Wexford, New Ross Community Hospital Ltd., Oulart ICA, Oylegate ICA, Parkinsons Associatio­n of Ireland ( Wexford), Raheen Community Developmen­t Group, Ramsgrange Men’s Shed, Rehabcare, Wexford, Rosslare ARA, Shelbourne Women’s Group, Southend Ladies Club, St. Mullins & District ARA, Taghmon ICA, Taghmon/Camross ARA, Tomhaggard Women’s Shed, Wednesday Club, Wexford Sports Partnershi­p and Wexford Town ICA.
