SPECIAL MASS

The special Mass and Anointing of the sick for the over-55s was held in the Parish Hall last Sunday and there was a great attendance at this annual event. We had some lovely seasonal hymns and songs performed by the choir under the baton of Jackie Stacey. Then the ladies provided a great variety of finger food after the Mass as well as a drop or two of spirits (the whiskey kind). Fr Dan Cavanagh, who was celebrant of the Mass thanked all for coming and wished each and everyone a very Happy and a Holy Christmas.

PARISH DRAW

The Parish Draw postponed from the previous week due to the snow went ahead after the Mass and refreshments. Paddy Heffernan of Ballyneale was the major prize winner taking home a cheque for €600. Others to receive substantial cheques were Dick McElwee, Eddie Ryan, Paddy Grennan and Maura Malone. This fundraiser is used to help keep the finances of the parish in good nick where they are now many calls for repair work and upkeep of the churches.

GIVING TREE

As in previous years the Giving Tree is again situated in the Church of the Assumption Rosbercon. Through people donating gifts and placing them on the tree the elderly patients of the two hospitals in New Ross will receive a gift later on. Parishioners are asked to take a tag and return it with the requested gift on or before December 31. It is of the utmost importance to adhere to this closing date so that the gifts can be distributed to the patients in good time.
