HAPPY NEW YEAR

Here’s wishing all readers and contributors a Happy New Year. Looking forward to your continued support in 2018.

DINNER DANCE

Gusserane GAA will hold their dinner dance and medal presentation night in Whites Hotel on Saturday, January 13. Tickets are €35 and are in big demand. Anyone wanting tickets should contact Lorraine O’Neill, Michael Whelan or Robert Browne. For more information you can phone Robert at 087 9645503.

HARD LUCK

Hard luck to Gusserane’s under-21 premier footballers who bowed out of the championship at the semi-final stage recently. St Martin’s proved too strong for our lads in front of a large attendance in Gusserane under lights. The club clearly has plenty of talent to work with in 2018 so best wishes to all involved for the coming year.

CARDS

Cards in Gusserane Hall last week were postponed as a mark of respect to the family of Seán Doyle. Seán had been an ever present in the hall in Gusserane on Tuesday nights since the cards started in the ‘nineties and will be sorely missed. He passed away last week after battling an illness. Cards will resume in Gusserane on Tuesday, January 2.

CHRISTMAS LUCKY DIP

Lucky-dip winners in the Tintern lotto Christmas lucky dip were Marion Fitzgerald, Patty Power, Jim Haughton, Pat Whelan, Michael Whelan of Rathimney, Fr Seán Laffan, David Murphy, Richard Molloy, Robyn Whelan and Helen Cruise. The lotto numbers last week were 3, 18, 25 and 26 but there were no winners so this week’s jackpot stands at €3,650. Happy New Year to all Tintern lotto punters and here’s hoping 2018 could be your year.
